This remote city high on Mount Gulluk in the Taurus mountain range was founded by the Solymians, a people whose language and origins remain obscure. The city's most impressive remains are the theatre, the monumental tombs, two temples to Artemis, a Roman villa, and the newly excavated gymnasium. The area is a national park.
There are two waterfalls, one inland at Dudenbasi, which is a cool and pretty picnic spot, and the second is a 40 metres high waterfall over the cliffs on the coast. The river plunges underground at Buklu Dudeni, appears on the surface for a brief 100 metres and then continues along an underground course before reaching the sea.
