NATIONAL PARKS:
BRIJUNI:
National Parks Brijuni is the name of a group of islands and a national park (since 1983) along the western coast of Istria, located 6 km from Pula; The coastline of these islands are well indented; the combined total length being 37.8 km. The surface of the islands are fairly level, making the vegetation of the islands extremely rich.

KORNATI
Kornati is the largest and most dense archipelago in the Adriatic Sea, consisting of 147 islands, islets and reefs making up a total area of 69 sq. km. The Kornati area is one of the richest fishing grounds in the Adriatic, known especially for its ''bent'' fish. There is also a modern, well equipped marina ''Piskera ACI Marina'' located on the Island of the same name.

KRKA
Krka is located in Dalmatia and springs out at the western foot of Dinara Mountain and flows into the sea near Sibenik. Krka National Park may be reached from Skradin by a National Park boat, which goes upstream to Skradinski Buk. Another way to travel to the Park is by automobile. You may drive to the entrance in Lozovac. From Lozovac, National Park buses then take visitors to Skradinski Buk. The Roski Slap Waterfall may be reached by car via Miljevci or Skradin.

MLJET
Mljet is an island in the southern Dalmatian archipelago, south of the Peljesac Peninsula, and is separated from it by the Mljet Channel. In the interior of the island are another four small, submerged karats valleys, called "Blatine" or "Slatine" (eel fishing grounds). Larger coves found there are Luka, Polaca, Tatinica, Sobra, Luka Prozura, Okuklje and Saplunara. Along the coast are numerous islets. Mljet has ferry lines which connect it to Peljesac and Dubrovnik.

PAKLENICA
Paklenica (since 1949) is in the south-eastern part of the Velebit littoral slope, close to Starigrad. It covers an area102 sq. km and comprises one of the largest forest areas of the Mediterranean (1,840 hectares) and two picturesque canyons (with the outstanding karst phenomena), Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica. Its magnificent beauty and charm is enjoyed not only by hikers and mountaineers, but also by a number of excursionists, nature-lovers, flora and fauna enthusiasts.

PLITVICKA JEZERA
Plitvicka Jezera makes up 16 interlinked lakes between Mala Kapela Mountain and Pljesevica Mountain, in the region of Lika. Due to their natural beauty and significance, the Plitvice Lakes and a large forest complex around it were set aside as a national park in 1949. The National Park is divided into a broad and a narrow protection zone which defines the level of protection. Some traditional occupations, such as animal grazing on certain pastures and forest management (according to stringent regulations) are permitted in the broad protection zone. In the narrow protection zone only protective measures are permitted.

RISNJAK
Risnjak a mountain massif and national park is located in the western part of Gorski Kotar, 18 km Northeast of Rijeka; The area of Risnjak Mountain plays a significant role in vacation tourism, and represents an attractive destination for excursions, climatic resorts, excellent winter sports, mountain tours, hunting and fishing in streams and artificial lakes.
