Black Sea ( Safranbolu & Amasya & Trabzon )
In Safranbolu Sample the traditional Kuyu Kebabi (lamb roasted whole in a clay pit dug into the ground )is definitely worth an overnight stay. Amasya has remarkably generous and tender shish kebabs. All of the meat in these regions is truly outstanding (the livestock are raised on natural grazing) and may even convert the vegetarians because it is so healthy, tender and delicious. The yummy local apples also are outstanding. Ask at Ilk Pension where the wonderful bakery is that serves the walnut bread that is so tasty and unique. On the way to Trabzon you will find many grill houses. The river bends and lake districts provide fresh trout and salmon. The region also has wonderful white honey along with tasty regional cheeses, especially near Uzungol.
