Thessaloniki The second largest city in Greece stretches a long way by the Aegean. It is not only very interesting to visit for its archaeological sites of Vergina, but also to enjoy for its great ouzeries and seaside restaurants. Philip of Macedonia and Alexander the Great have both left traces of their existence here. A drive to Chalkidiki will lead you to splendid beaches as well as to the monastic site of Mt. Athos (only men are allowed inside). Since international flights arrive and depart from Thessaloniki, it makes a perfect point of arrival or departure from Greece, because there are also many connections to the islands including Crete, Rhodes and Santorini. There are beautiful hotels for the leisure traveler as well as business traveler.
