We do recommend tours either private or group, because the information provides a much deeper respect for the sites you will be seeing. The Archaeological Museum, which harbours treasures of ancient Macedonia from the Vergina findings, as well as Vergina itself, makes for a great day trip. If you choose not to fly out of Thessalonki then alternatively, one could rent a car and enjoy the drive to Athens visiting Meteora, Delphi or the bewitching, protected mountains around Zagahori.
