The best restored and best preserved village in Crete deserves to have a tasteful (also restored) place to stay. Villa Arhanes is an inn of quality, focusing on a lovely pastel-coloured central courtyard which now houses its small but welcome swimming pool and its own traditional Kafeneio. Original thick stone walls and much-timbered ceilings, a sensibly fitted conversion becomes an inn with 6 apartments. Though inward facing (there are room windows also to the outside and the village), this is bright and comfortable - a sort of private piazza for the guests. Rooms are comfortable with a rustic elegance. Bathrooms are tiled and well finished, with shower and WC. The apartments are on two levels, mostly with galleried upper bedrooms.
A television is provided in each room and there is a cozy yet spacious layout. All but one of the apartments have fireplaces. Decor hints at the origins and traditional housing of Crete.
Breakfast is enjoyed by the pool or inside the Kafeneio. Lovingly prepared meals, with strictly local and mainly organic ingredients, are available in the evening on advance request.
he village of Archanes has extensive history and locally today there is a thriving wine and produce industry. The square is surrounded by tempting restaurants serving fine lamb and local dishes. The streets meander (many are pedestrian-only) past flower-adorned houses and local shops. In a sense this is where you can live the Cretan experience.

Each Apartment has Kitchenette with mini-oven and hotplates, fridge, satellite TV in each bedroom and in living room, direct dial phone, air conditioning and central heating, hairdryer, fireplace (except in the small 2-people apartment). Fresh water outdoor pool with jacuzzi (6X7m). Sunbeds and towels are provided.
